
Jennifer has always wanted to become a multi-tasking celebrity. In her youth Jennifer was a fan of many different genres of music, mainly Afro-Caribbean music like salsa, merengue and the bachata. In addition, she was fond of mainstream music, like hip-hop and R&B. She loved music but was also fascinated by motion picture industry. Her biggest influence was the Rita Moreno musical, West Side Story (1961). At 5, Jennifer began taking singing and dancing lessons. Jennifer is also entertainer and Catholic schoolgirl, attended 8 years at Holy Family Catholic elementary school in The Bronx. After a 4 year period in the Bronx, she graduated from Preston High School, an all-girls prep school. Jennifer performed well in the sports department during her time at school, and was a champion in tennis and track and field. In the Castle Hill neighbourhood was her home for most of her life. At 18, Jennifer moved out of her parent's home. At this point, Lopez worked at a law firm , while taking dance classes at night.
