Katja Herbers her parents are Oboist Werner Herbers and violinist Vera Beths. As a child Katja Herbers was a part of her mother on tour through America as part of the chamber group L'Archibudelli. She met the theatre after her father Leonie Poliak, and the cellist Annerbylsma were married. As a child, she was an au pair in Canada, and was able to learn Dutch German and English. Herbers received her education at her school, the Ignatius Gymnasium. She was a psychology student at Amsterdam University. For her course in psychology, she was a student at the theatre academy De Trap. She moved into New York and went to the HB Studio. Then she was accepted into the Theaterschool in Amsterdam. Her studies also included leading roles in Pietje Bell & Brush with Fate. Herbers then joined Johan Simons Theater Company NTGent Ghent. She joined Germany's Munich Kammerspiele.
